First, the cedar strip canoe. This was built in the late 1980's as a time-motion and cost study for possible student work for Ad and one of his brothers.

It was determined that building construction jobs would provide an immediate and more secure income than building and selling canoes.

The canoe has been shared among the brothers and the remaining web seat will soon be replaced by a more elegant, woven
cord seat to match the existing one in the stern.

The design of these two chairs is a conglomeration of features from several Adirondack-style chair plans. Templates were cut from sheet aluminum so as to make future construction faster and easier.

We have at least five chairs similar to these on our deck. Each having a slightly different backrest profile to provide
some variety to the basic round shape.
